Complex logistics processes require powerful systems

The large logistics center opposite the headquarters in Ort im Innkreis is the heart of Fussl's logistics processes, a hub for the direct forwarding of goods to the branches. There are no central warehouses at Fussl. Replenishment of branches lacking stock is carried out by branch stock transfers.

This places high demands on the organization of the flow of goods and also on the systems that map these movements. The complexity increases with each new store. Not to mention increasing customer expectations with it comes to products being available. Further challenges arise from the fact that the in-store business is supported by the online business. This perfect storm of business conditions made it urgently necessary for Fussl Modestraße to switch to a new, high-performance merchandise management and checkout system.

Project goal

A tailor-made software package that maps existing processes

A smooth ride from analysis to implementation

"Our primary, ambitious goal was to find software that could be tailored to our specific requirements and to the processes we had already established. This was absolutely the case with the advarics.retail and advarics.cash solutions. The advarics team analyzed our processes intensively and quickly found a solution for all problems. We got everthing we wanted,” says Hubert Schatzl, Head of IT, at Fussl Fashion.

The changeover of the checkout workstations took place during business hours without customers even noticing. There were no outages or longer waiting times. "This was also very important for us. In addition, we had the requirement that logistics processes would not be interrupted by the changeover to the new merchandise management system.

advarics was able to guarantee both. At 220 checkout stations and in the logistics center, everything worked smoothly right away," Schatzl sums up.

The changeover to advarics.retail and advarics.cash took place in record-breaking time: only 110 days passed from the signing of the contract to the go-live in the stores at the end of March 2021. And the implementation of the new POS system in the 180 stores was completed in 4.5 days. This also had a positive effect on the project costs, best expressed in Hubert Schatzl‘s own words: "advarics offers super value for money."

"Our requirements were high, advarics more than met them."

Better performance, easy to use, comprehensive analytics

While data synchronization in the previous system could only take place overnight, changes to item master data such as a new price are now synchronized in real time. In every store, current data is available at the push of a button. This not only speeds up processes; it’s essential for omnichannel services such as availability queries. Customers are shown the current stock at any time.

And Fussl management can always make their own decision regarding optimal merchandise management based on current data, which they can also look up on their phones. This is supported by comprehensive analysis tools and dashboards. At the same time, the advarics module in the front office area at the checkout stations is simple and intuitive. Employees can quickly use the system to its full extent without a lengthy training period.
